Student of the Month – I Live for the Moments Like This

There are some moments that really stand out in life and shine brighter than the rest. The moments that make everything seem worth it. On Wednesday I had one of those moments. At school, Jace got Student Of The Month – I live for moments like this.

Last school year was a rough one for Jace. We had just moved to a new house away from his preschool friends. He also started starting all-day kindergarten 5 days a week. The all-day kindergarten alone was a big adjustment. Then, near the end of September Kailanie started having issues with her shunt and was in the hospital for 3 weeks. In November Kailanie was in the hospital again for jaw surgery, then again in January – February when she was diagnosed with leukemia is sister in and out of the hospital made it hard for Jace.

Jace ended up being the kid in class that every parent dreads. He was teaching the class naughty words, he was hitting his friends, not getting his work done, and the list goes on and on. At home, he was having behavior problems that seemed like they would never end.

This year, after a lot of hard work, sorting out feelings, and everything calming down with his sister he is doing much better. He is doing so well he received the Student Of The Month award from his teacher for being safe, respectful, and responsible. This is huge!

On Wednesday, at his school assembly, I proudly stood in the back with the other parents waiting to see their kids receive awards. The look on Jace’s face when he saw Daddy, Sissy, Brother, Auntie, his cousin, and me standing there to support him was priceless.

I couldn’t be more proud of Jace. The kid he is being in school this year is the kid I KNOW he is. He is a sweet little boy that sometimes gets overwhelmed with big emotions. This huge achievement of his shows me he is on the right track. I live for the moments like this!

Peace, love, and happiness to you all❣️
