Ran out of hand sanitizer? Prefer a homemade hand sanitizer over store bought? Whatever your reasoning is, I have a simple hand sanitizer recipe for you. If you’re anything like me, you probably already have the ingredients on hand for a DIY hand sanitizer.

Recipe

  • 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol (greater than 70%) or everclear will do in a pinch
  • 1/4 cup aloe vera gel
  • 10-15 drops essential oils for scent or extra disinfecting (lavender and tea tree both have great germ fighting capabilities. Plant Therapy also has a germ fighter blend and a kid safe germ destroyer to help fight germs)

Mix alcohol and essential oils in dispensing container of your choice. Add aloe vera gel to alcohol and essential oils. Give it a shake, stir, or whatever you want. When it’s all mixed together you’re all done.

If you would also like your hand sanitizer to moisturize, try using a splash of fractionated coconut oil. A small squeeze of your favorite lotion might also do the trick.

Now what?
