Mother’s Day

To every mom, almost mom, mom of an angel, step-mom, those who wish to be a mom, dad playing both roles, and anyone making a difference in a kid’s life, I salute you. It takes strength and love to put those tiny people before ourselves every single day.

So many people are just spitting out the words “Happy Mother’s Day,” and taking it all for granted. Just remember, this is their world too, and they put you at the center of it.

If you are anything like me, your “special day” did not go as nicely as you had hoped. In fact, at one point I wanted to write a Facebook post that read something along the lines of “five year old, free to good home.”

Of course, I would never give my son away!! I worked really hard on him after four miscarriages. He is also so cute and sweet most of the time. When that kid does not get enough sleep though, it’s go time.

Luckily the other two were well behaved all day. My little guy, Koda, without being prompted, told me “Happy Mother’s Day, Mommy!” That made my day.

Since Kailanie is a rockstar and cleared her chemo early, she got to be home. That made my day too. It was much better spending it out of the hospital.

Later, after putting the kids to bed, Jace started crying. I met him at his bedroom door, and he mumbled: “I’m scared.” I gave him a big hug and let him crawl into bed next to me. It was then that my sweet, cuddly boy was back.

They grow so fast and depend on us to be there for them always. When my kids get mad, they can say I am mean all they want, as long as they never stop saying “I love you, Mom!”

I love my kids so deeply. A world without them would be horrible! On this special day, and every day, I honor my kids, they made me who I am.

In memory of my parents who have both passed away, I will share this tidbit written on their plaque in the cemetery: “Love deeply and dream big!”
