My Personal Reasons for Blogging

There are many reasons why people start blogging, for me it wasn’t just one. Yeah, making money off my blog is a goal of mine but that’s not the main reason for torturing you all with my writing. In my case, it goes deeper than money. Here are my biggest personal reasons for blogging:

1. I share because I care

If you have ever been in my shoes, meaning the monstrous shoes of a special needs parent, you know it can make you feel lonely. When your child is also medically complex, your time spent with friends is next to none. I want to create a place for “those” parents to see they are not alone.

2. The need to vent

Since sharing our story on social media, and now this blog, I don’t feel as weighed down. Things that I need to say for my peace of mind can be said, and common misconceptions can be cleared up. I’ll admit, there are a few posts I have written partially to satisfy that need to put someone(s) in their place, almost as a bit of a written middle finger. Feel free to dig through previous posts to see if you can spot which ones they might be.

3. Helping others

This may seem a little selfish, but helping others by offering advice, tips, tricks, and so on makes me feel better. I find something helpful, I’ll share. If I had already been there and done that, and feel I can save you some BS by letting you know how things went down in my situation, I will. Just be warned, I don’t generally sugar coat things well…I’m not Willy Wonka.

4. I’m an introvert

Crowds of people are not my “thing,” and neither is meeting new people face to face. I am very introverted with social anxiety to top it off. Blogging and social media more my “thing” than face to face interactions, unless I know you well.

I assure you, there are other reasons I blog, these are just the four big ones. If you wrap all four into one, it’s like therapy for me.

What about you?

If you happen to be a blogger, why do you blog? Feel free to leave a comment.

  1. I blog because I enjoy writing and makes me feel good, especially if I’m putting something out there that can help others. Also I am writing children’s stories that I hope to share one day, so with the help of other mummy followers they may like to read them, you never know. Xx

  2. These are all great reasons to blog! I don’t think wanting to help someone else is selfish at all, even if it makes you feel good.

I blog for some of the same reasons you do. In addition to tracking my progress on catching up my retirement savings, I want to help others discover it’s never too late to save money for retirement.

I’m also a caregiver for my disabled husband, so that impacts our lives and my writing. I can’t help blogging about some of my other interests, like travel & herbalism, and I try to tie all these topics together.

  3. Howdy! I realize this is sort of off-topic however I needed to ask. Does building a well-established blog such as yours take a lot of work? I’m completely new to running a blog but I do write in my diary daily. I’d like to start a blog so I can share my own experience and thoughts online. Please let me know if you have any kind of ideas or tips for brand new aspiring bloggers. Appreciate it!

    1. In my opinion, it took a lot of time. Being a mom of 5 and working full-time, It was difficult to find the time to create my blog. All the time and effort was definitely worth it though!

There are people bout there will set a website up for you. Or, you can do what I did and research as much as you can to build it yourself. 🙂

If you already have a website you would like to attach your blog to, you will just need to add your page and start writing. 🙂

  4. My coder is trying to persuade me to move to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses. But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using WordPress on various websites for about a year and am anxious about switching to another platform. I have heard excellent things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can import all my wordpress posts into it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  5. excellent issues altogether, you simply received a new reader. What might you recommend in regards to your post that you simply made some days ago? Any positive?

  6. Simply wish to say your article is as astonishing. The clearness in your put up is simply great and i can think you are an expert on this subject. Well along with your permission allow me to clutch your feed to keep up to date with drawing close post. Thanks a million and please keep up the enjoyable work.
